At the 53^rd Annual Scientific Conference of the Veterinary Practitioners Association of the Philippines (VPAP) on June 25, 2025, at One Ayala, Makati, Founder and CEO Dr. Robert H. Lo of RDF Feed, Livestock & Foods, Inc. shared strategies that have enabled his company to remain resilient for 37 years.

VPAP is composed of veterinarians from various disciplines, including swine, large animals, small ruminants, wildlife, research, laboratory animals, and the academe.

From a poultry contract grower in 1988, Dr. Lo steered RDF to become one of the major livestock producers in Central Luzon. A benchmark for vertical integration, RDF owns and operates several farms, and industrial facilities, including a feed mill, a semi-automated slaughterhouse, meat-cutting and meat processing plants, restaurants, and a chain of meat shops, known as Fresh Options.

A passionate and visionary leader, his dream is “for every Filipino family to have access to high-quality meats.”

During the plenary session, the CEO outlined three key factors to RDF’s long-term business success: continuous innovation and using new technologies, implementing sustainable practices, and empowering people. He also offered some words of wisdom to fellow veterinarians: “Do not give up on your passion and stay focused on your vision. Persevere, be open to change, and embrace challenges.” He brought his presentation to a close with a new corporate video that showcases RDF’s history, current state, and aspirations. 

Aptly titled “The Story of RDF’s Journey to Transformation,” the video opens with a quote from Lao Tzu: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” 

The Director of Corporate Affairs of RDF, Dr. Joy Michelle A. Literato, has this to say about the video:
