Franchising Philippines | 4 Ways to Grow a Small Business Fast | By Homer Nievera | How are business partners? In today’s time when the inflation rate is still high (5.3% in the month of August 2023), it is better for the business to grow than to be left behind. This means that larger companies are less affected by the inflation rate because their coffers are deep enough to move better.
How can you grow your business if you have been in the small business category for a long time now?
In my personal work as a Growth Hacker in the Philippines, my focus is on ways to quickly grow businesses or brands. Growth hackers like me work with marketing, sales, product management, and technology to grow a website’s or online channel’s traffic through content and distribution platforms.
In today’s episode, we’re going to discuss some ways to make your small business grow more easily, based on my experiences and additional research.
Read on!
#1 Control Costs
Growing your business requires increasing your so-called bottom line – or the financial standing. If you grow your market share but still increase your costs, you won’t have any money to invest or make more money.
While looking for strategies to grow, consider the costs of running your company and delivering products and services. Lowering these expenses will help your organization grow and become cash flow stable.
In cost control, this includes reducing overhead. When you grow your business, you need a lot of capital. You need it to hire suppliers or vendors, recruit new employees, order supplies and equipment, market, and reinvest.
There are several ways to increase revenue for expansion, including reducing overhead.
Here are some ways to reduce the operating budget, however, each business has different options:
- Increase inventory turnover.
- Removal of underperforming items or services
- Lower production costs.
- Review your marketing budget and reduce buyer acquisition costs.
- Instead of renting an expensive commercial facility, rent virtual office space as needed.
#2 Expand Your Market
You can grow your business instantly by offering your product or service to new clients in a number of ways.
New businesses today can be purely virtual, like an internet store (online store). It exposes your product to new clients in new markets.
Get a new demographic. Find different markets or groups that might use your products like your initial target market. After finding a new market, you can promote in targeted media or develop unique marketing campaigns.
Promote new products. Discovering and advertising new product uses encourages existing consumers to buy more. It can also attract new customers who need your items for different reasons.
Consider franchising. Do you have a repeatable business model or “recipe for success”? If so, you may have a franchise opportunity. Licensing your brand, business strategy, and processes to franchisees who offer your products or services in their own locations is required.
You will need more than a business model. In addition, a brand must be attractive to the area. You don’t have to franchise across the country or continent, but your product must be viable in multiple locations.
All these methods increase market share. Your business model becomes more stable and profits increase. You are more likely to survive changes in the market if you do not prioritize one type of customer.
#3 Build strategic relationships or partnerships
There is no rule that requires you to expand your business alone. Strategic partnerships like Barnes and Noble (a bookstore) and Starbucks in America can help you reach more people in a mutually beneficial way.
For example, a carpenter may partner with an electrician. Having jobs, you can refer each one. You can also collaborate on initiatives that require the same expertise.
Restaurants can partner with local breweries to sell beer with their meals, copywriting agencies can partner with graphic design studios for content marketing, and plant nurseries can partner with landscaping companies to be the exclusive provider of plants and trees for every job.
The right network and alliances can boost your growth. There are many ways to network and partner with other companies. If you’re good at in-person (or virtual) networking and don’t know where to start, try LinkedIn. Write thought leadership content and share it with your contacts. Answer questions in industry-specific groups. Soon, you will have growing business connections.
#4 Dominate a niche market
Focusing on a particular specialization can help you grow your organization without expanding into new markets or services. It lets you be a “big fish in a small pond.”
A niche is a specific base of customers. Find a market segment with unmet requirements and meet them at a high, accessible level.
For example, niche businesses such as makeup, nail salons, hair straightening, and even (in America) hair blowing have dominated beauty parlors or salons. In the industry you’re in, you can definitely think of a niche market that you’ll cover.
Conclusion
You want to build your brand and grow right away when you start a business. Unfortunately, this requires a lot of time and resources. Continuous growth requires patience, hard work, and dedication. Nothing extraordinary is needed to beat other companies in the field or to succeed quickly. By creating a solid marketing plan, investing in business development, and choosing a growth strategy, you can achieve your goals and grow your company.
Invest in yourself too. It’s tempting to keep all your gains, but investing in yourself through training, seminars, and learning is essential to the growth of your business. Determine which areas of the business need more attention and find mentors or experts who can help you.
And in expanding your business, don’t forget faith in God who gives talent and opportunity to everyone.
